Our
Story

Kosnoski Eye Care has been a provider of superior eye care in South King County for 75 years. Dr. Edward Kosnoski joined the family practice with his father in 1998. For nearly 19 years he has incorporated his special skills as an Optometrist, including pediatrics, geriatrics and ocular diseases to create a family-oriented culture servicing children and adults alike.

Dr. Kosnoski graduated from Washington State University and completed his doctorate at the Pacific University of Optometry in 1998. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometric Physicians of Washington, with emphasis on state and federal legislative issues.

Kosnoski lives in Seattle with his wife Angela and their two sons, Colton and Carter.

Dr. Edward Kosnoski

Dr. Edward Kosnoski was raised in Kent, Washington. He graduated from Kentridge High School in 1988, Washington State University in 1992, and Pacific University College of Optometry in 1998. Upon graduation, he joined Kosnoski Eye Care, specializing in primary eye care, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and ocular disease. Dr. Kosnoski sees patients in all five locations. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometric Physicians of Washington, with emphasis on state and federal legislative issues. Dr. Kosnoski and his wife, Angela, live in Seattle with their two children.

Dr. Payal Thakkar

Dr. Payal Thakkar was born and raised in Chicago, IL. She completed her B.S. in Community Health at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010. Graduating Cum Laude, Dr. Thakkar obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in 2014.
Dr. Thakkar completed her internships at Chicago Cornea Consultants in IL, Omni Eye Services in NJ and West Palm Beach VA Medical Center in FL. She went on to specialize in primary care and ocular disease by completing a residency at VA NJ Health Care System. After working in a medical optometry practice in Long Island for two years, she relocated to Seattle, WA in 2017. She takes great pride in helping others with their visual needs and enjoys getting to know her patients. When she is not treating patients, Dr. Thakkar likes trying new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with her husband and family.

Dr. Charlene Walton

Dr. Charlene Walton completed her Bachelor's degrees at Seattle University in Biology and Spanish and her Doctorate of Optometry degree at Pacific University in Oregon. She joined Kosnoski Eye Care in 2015. Dr. Walton’s clinical training includes work at the American Lake Veterans Hospital in Tacoma, WA and Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute in Bellevue, WA, where she focused on ocular disease and pre and post op Cataract and Laser surgery management. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds. Dr. Walton also speaks Spanish and has been on eye care missions to Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Dr. Walton is a member of the American Optometric Association and Optometric Physicians of Washington. She is the current President-Elect of the King County Optometric Society. Dr. Walton currently lives in Seattle with her husband and enjoys running, yoga and traveling in her free time.

Dr. Jessica Hontz

Dr. Jessica Hontz was born and raised in Michigan. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology at Michigan State University, followed by her Doctor of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. After graduation, she moved to the Pacific Northwest and worked in private practices in Canada and metro Portland area before relocating and settling in Seattle; she joined Kosnoski Eye Care in early 2015. Dr. Hontz spends time in all clinic locations practicing primary eye care. She is well versed in pediatric and adult care, ocular disease, as well as treating patients with special needs. She is a current member of the American Optometric Association, Optometric Physicians of Washington, and King County Optometric Society. When away from the office, Dr. Hontz enjoys spending time with family, cooking new recipes, and traveling.

Dr. Sonia Kaur

Dr. Sonia Kaur was born in India and moved to Seattle in 1995. In 2008, she completed her B.A. from University of Washington. Dr. Kaur then went on to graduate from NOVA Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with a Doctorate in Optometry and a B.S. in Vision Science in 2012. During her time there, she did extensive clinical rotations in ocular disease, pediatrics and contact lenses. Upon graduation in 2012, Dr. Kaur returned to the Pacific Northwest and began practicing primary care optometry, with a special interest in ocular disease, including diagnosis and management of Glaucoma and Diabetic Retinopathy. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and from all walks of life. Dr. Kaur resides in Auburn, WA with her husband and their son. She enjoys being involved in the community and in her spare time, also enjoys traveling, cooking, yoga and football (GO HAWKS)!

Dr. Natalie Choi

Dr. Natalie Choi was born and raised in Southern California. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Physiological Science at UCLA, and Doctorate of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley. Upon graduation, Dr. Choi moved from California and joined Kosnoski Eye Care in 2008.
Dr. Choi’s clinical training includes work at the American Lake Veterans Hospital in Tacoma, WA and Castle Family Health Center in Atwater, CA, where she focused on ocular disease and family eye health care. She has also enjoyed the opportunity to bring eye care to the under-served communities in Thailand and Mexico. Dr. Choi sees patients of all ages, including pediatric eye examinations, in each of the clinics. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Optometric Physicians of Washington.
